Police Lie In Court, Man Is Falsely Charged
A New Jersey man who was facing years in prison after being falsely charged with resisting arrest has had all charges against him dropped after a second police dash cam video was shown in court.
Had is not been for this second video, this man would surely have been convicted. It shows just how easy a police officers can lie or skew the truth to convict you. If there is no video it’s your word against theirs. And who do you think they will believe with in court?
This is why we write about police corruption. Are you getting the message here? I thought they were suppose to protect and serve.
It wasn’t that long ago that a grand jury’s decided not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo of the NYPD. Pantaleo placed Eric Garner in a chokehold, a maneuver which has been prohibited by the department since 1993, eventually killing the man. The video showed that Garner was not resisting.
The decision by a grand jury not to indict in the death of Eric Garner is a miscarriage of justice. It’s an outrage, it’s a disgrace, it’s a blow to our democracy and it should shock the conscience of every single American who cares about justice and fair play.
Grand Juries Almost Never Indict Police Officers Who Kill Citizens
There have been close to 1,700 people killed by police since January 1, 2014.
Criminal defense and civil rights attorney Ron Kuby told the Latin Post that the only way for police to be held accountable for crimes they commit against the citizenry is through “an independent statewide prosecutor for police misconduct…that’s the only way you will get police accountability, because local district attorneys are locally elected, they frequently rely on many of the same police officers who are investigating other police officers, and they are very reluctant as a rule to second guess the police involving line of duty killings. Sometimes they won’t even present the case to a grand jury.”
Just how big is this issue of police killing citizens? Check out this Wikipedia page. It will open your eyes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States
Nearly two times a week in the United States, a police officer killed someone during a seven-year period.
While we all can agree there are some great cops out there. But it’s very obvious their intent is to rule us, not protect us.
The situation of police corruption, specifically policemen planting evidence, stealing contraband for their own personal accounts, and falsifying police reports, is tremendous.
In this day and age you should record all police encounters. You never know when you’ll need to prove your innocents.
