On This Day in Jury History…

Today is the 9th anniversary of what has been dubbed the Montana Jury Mutiny, the Pot Shot Heard ‘Round the World, and more! On this day in 2010, so many prospective jurors in Missoula County refused even to consider convicting Touray Cornell over victimless violations involving 1/16 ounce of pot that a jury could not even be seated. They effectively nullified in his case without ever being seated! Read About Touray Cornell’s Hero Jurors This is not the only time such a situation has transpired. In October of this year, prospective jurors in New Orleans also scuttled a felony trial over a victimless charge regarding 1 ounce of marijuana. These hero jurors remind us that even if the government chooses to harm someone who is harming nobody, we as jurors can help protect them by exercising out right of conscientious acquittal! This is known as jury nullification Jury nullification occurs when a jury returns a verdict of “Not Guilty” despite its belief that the defendant is guilty of the violation charged. The jury in effect nullifies a law that it believes is either immoral or wrongly applied to the defendant whose fate they are charged with deciding. So, if jurors have the power to nullify, shouldn’t they be told so? That’s a good question. As it stands now, jurors must learn of their power to nullify from extra-legal sources such as televised legal dramas, novels, or articles about juries that they might have come across. Some juries will understand that they do have the power to nullify, while other juries may be misled by judges into thinking that they must apply the law exactly as it is given. Many commentators have suggested that it is unfair to have a defendant’s fate depend upon whether he is lucky enough to have a jury that knows it has the power to nullify. Jury nullification prevents our criminal justice system from becoming too rigid–it provides some play in the joints for justice if jurors use their power wisely. Will you use it wisely? Vaxxed – Forced Injections of Slaves Is The Last Step to Complete Tyranny

We’re digging into a controversial topic: vaccines. I know this is a touchy topic, and this blog is not about telling you how or what to think – I am not having this conversation to be pro-vaccine or anti-vaccine. I am pro-question and pro-clarity, and you should learn all sides of the story and get a different perspective topic. After all, your children lives depend on you getting this one right. There’s just so much intentional misinformation out there on this topic. In fact, most of what we see is deception by omission. It’s what they are not telling us that is killing us. You may be thinking at this very moment, my kids were vaccinated and they are fine. But, are they really? When you had your kids were vaccinated, did you know what was in it? War Isn’t Fought for Freedom

“You’re not to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it.” —Malcolm X I realize as I sat down to pen this blog, that the words I write may upset some of you. Especially the topic of this post. Unfortunately the most important issues become the most controversial, which makes them difficult to discuss with a level head. I am not trying to offend anyone, though I am sure some will be. This subject, however, is too important to shy away from, so I hope you will give it some rational thought. Please, don’t wave the flag in my face just yet. However, I just listened to an independent candidate for U.S. Senate in Alaska, Margaret Stock, and she pointed out that she is a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and a former professor at West Point. Stock stated that she had served alongside and mentored soldiers “who have given their lives for our country.” It would be difficult for me to find anything more nonsensical than that. Show me one soldier — just one — in the past 231 years who has died for his country or, as others assert, in the defense of our freedoms here at home. You can’t do it. Most of those soldiers died because officials within the national-security branch of the federal government ordered to go to some foreign country thousands of miles away, where they were placed in a position of kill or be killed. In fact, many of them were first conscripted (i.e., seized) and then ordered to deploy. Nothing is more Patriotic than respecting and supporting the ideals that gave birth to America. Many American citizens often refer to this country as the greatest nation on earth. With the freedoms and rights we have here compared to other countries, they believe that America can do no wrong. However, as great as this nation may look on paper, it is far from perfect and even the most patriotic Americans can see that I’m not wrong. Despite how high a pedestal this country is placed upon, the truth is that it also has a lot of blood on its hands. Bowing Down To Tyranny – Wars and Police State

You should never forget… that these wars of aggression, this police state oppression, hinges on one single thing: our co-operation. It’s not the tyrant at the top of the pyramid who has the final say like most are conditioned to believe. The real question is not who issued the immoral order; the real question is why did you obey it? Did you obey it because you saw a shiny badge, uniform, or an official-looking seal? Did you think that those symbols of authority removed your responsibility to discern? Or is it because those around you complied quietly and you didn’t want to stand out? Did you think that since you were told that you were not in charge it was someone else’s responsibility to ask these questions? Truth of the matter is that no-one really stands above you. In 300 years we are all dust and bones and the queen and the pawn both end up in the same box. There are no bonus points in the afterlife for being a good little slave. There is no retroactive compensation for accepting a life of indentured servitude. And there is no honor in bowing down to these criminals who claim to be your rulers. Until you realize that, until humanity gets up off its knees and looks them in the eye and says, “No, I will not obey. No, I will not comply.” Until you take your power back without asking for permission there will be no justice. There will be no peace. Are you awake yet? Whether You Know It or Not, You Are a Slave

In the antebellum South, it was not uncommon for slaves to rent themselves from their masters. As a young man, Frederick Douglass did so, for example. His owner gave him leave to go out on his own, to find employment where he could, and to pocket the pay he received for such work, except that each month he had to pay his master a fixed sum for his freedom. Douglass worked in the shipyards of Baltimore, caulking ships. Aside from his rental payment for his own body, he lived as he wished, subject to his income constraint. He found his own housing, acquired his own food and clothing, and so forth, just as a free wage worker would have done. It strikes me that this practice has much in common with the situation in which an ordinary private person finds himself in any modern country today. The person is in general at liberty to arrange his own employment, spend his earnings as he pleases, acquire his own food and housing, and so on, except that he must pay a rental for this personal liberty, which takes the form of a portion of his earnings that must be paid to the various governments that collect income and employment taxes in the jurisdiction. Lest you imagine that this likening is hyperbolic, consider what happens to someone who resolutely refuses to pay the governments the rental payment for his body. He is subjected to a series of enforcement actions, culminating—if he resists at every step—in his being hauled off to jail and having his personal property seized to satisfy the governments’ demands. Thus, he loses both his property and his personal liberty. People imagine that they own themselves and that they are free. But don’t tell that tale to the tax men. They know who really owns you.
